Spotify launches the "Community" function, allowing users of mobile devices to see friends' current activities.
A new feature called Community is being developed by the music streaming service Spotify. Users of the new feature will be able to see the music that their platform friends are now listening to in real time. TechCrunch reports that the Community feature on mobile devices would also enable users to see what playlists their friends have recently modified in a different area of the app. Mobile users may access the new feature by typing "spotify: community" into the Safari browser on their iOS device, according to the post, even though it had not yet been rolled out to the platform at the time of writing.

Chris Messina uncovered the function and shared a video of it on Twitter earlier this month along with a longer list of updates to the Spotify app. On the desktop, the company offers a similar "Friend Activity" option, however mobile users have restricted access to the same Friend Activity. Spotify refused to share any further details at this time, claiming that the functionality is still in the early phases of development.
In the past, the music streaming service helped the business develop by using its Facebook interface to widen its friend network. To differentiate itself from other streaming services, Spotify turned its attention more on personalization features in the years that followed. The biggest on-demand audio service in the world will continue to recruit, but will moderate the pace "and be a little more careful" in the next quarters, according to an email from Spotify CEO Daniel Ek to staff members on Wednesday. Around 8,230 individuals are employed globally, according to the firm.
Paul Vogel, chief financial officer at Spotify, said earlier this month that the business was monitoring the state of the world economy. Although there hadn't yet been a significant effect on business, he added, "We are keeping a careful watch on the situation and considering our staff expansion in the short future."
